I’ve sat in your chair
For more than a decade, I was a global brand director for Sigma-Aldrich® and Milli-Q® brands, among others, within Merck KGaA. I owned the brand day by day, stakeholder by stakeholder, touchpoint by touchpoint. So I know what it takes to make a brand strategy work inside the organization that has to live it.
I got there through advertising and design agencies, with clients in CPG and B2B. Then came Landor, where I earned my “PhD” in branding on brands from start-ups to multi-billion-dollar businesses.
Before all of that, I studied architecture at RISD. Branding uses the same thinking, structure and creativity, science and instinct, happily without the constraints of physics.
Stakeholders’ minds can be changed, but gravity never will.
Today I work from a home studio north of Boston, overlooking fields bordered by forsythia where my lab mix plays with his groundhog and bunny friends. I also illustrate. You’ll find my work throughout this site.
